I'm So Pleased With Myself

I finally found something fun to spend my birthday money on...new phones for Lisa and me!

They're BlackBerry Pearl 8130s. Lisa's is red and mine is black. I figured it wouldn't be nearly as fun if I only got it for myself, so I got one for each of us!

I know what you're thinking to yourself...those phones cost $500 each and data plans are really expensive- how can you possibly afford that?! Well that, my dears, is why I'm so pleased with myself. I'm not going to get into all the nitty-gritty details, but let's just say that we now pay about $15 LESS per month on our cell-phone bill and we both have our same 800mins shared family plan, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited email and data plans for our BlackBerries. Oh and Sprint knocked $400 off of each phone too.

Apparently struggling wireless telecommunication companies would rather throw everything including the kitchen sink at you for free rather than lose you to one of their main competitors! We get everything from internet to satellite-guided directions to whatever you can imagine now on our phones. I was like a little boy on Christmas morning waiting for the UPS man to come and deliver our new technological package :)

Sprint: frustrating individuals but helping couples reach compromises for X years! I get to pay a lower bill and not get lost so much, and you get your fancy new toy! Thanks for sharing your $ with me, love!

What a deal! We recently got free phones from Sprint with a renewed contract, but we didn't get Blackberries and a data plan! Nicely done.

you will love your crackberries. I've been using the Curve since January and it's a lifeline now.

fyi, you can turn of the auto-addendum to your emails (including blog post submissions) that says "Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone with SprintSpeed." When you do, nobody will be the wiser if you're emailing from your phone or your real computer.

I've also found, since I added direct phone-to-blog pictures, that I've pretty much stopped using my digital camera altogether. So, you'll want to watch out for that side effect, especially if you prefer your digital camera pictures over your phone's lower quality. For me, the sheer convenience of my camera phone outweighs the quality I get from my digital camera. So, unless it's a really special occasion, I rarely pack my digital camera anymore.

You can also set up PIN to PIN messenging, which is exactly like text messaging, but only for blackberry owners. It's totally free and fast.
